Parable of the Husbandmen
Lord of the vineyard - God the Father
Vineyard - Israel
Husbandmen - Jewish religious leaders
Son - God the Son / Jesus Christ

Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: - Acts 2:23

…The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? - Luke 20:17

Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. - 1 Peter 2:5-6

1) Jesus Christ is a Stumbling Stone
When Jesus came humility, meekness & love at His 1st coming, this caused Jews to stumble because this is not what expected of the Messiah. But this was prophesied in the scriptures:
…he shall be… a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel… And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken. - Isaiah 8:14-15

Many stumble at Jesus Christ today because His teaching is not what they expected.

2) Jesus Christ is a Crushing Stone
Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. - Acts 7:51

Jesus Christ will be a crushing stone to all those who are willingly defiant.

How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation… - Hebrews 2:3

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. - Psalm 19:1

Everything in this universe was made by Jesus Christ and man has no excuse for not believing in God.

Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, - Romans 1:22

…Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go. - Exodus 5:2

…without me ye can do nothing. - John 15:5

3) Jesus Christ is a Cornerstone

Cornerstone - 1st part of building laid down – Colossians 1:18
Cornerstone - Necessary part of building – Acts 4:12
Stones added on top of cornerstone/foundation – Ephesians 2:20
Cornerstone has to be solid & sturdy – Matthew 16:18

The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust… - Psalm 18:2

But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge. - Psalm 94:22

The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation. - 2 Samuel 22:47
