Everyday Jesus: Everyday Jesus is a great way to deepen your Bible reading, prayer life & personal time with Christ.
• Monday: Read Heb 4:14-16 & 1 Cor 2:1-16 Character is a moral standard anchored in the character of God and no other place. Before we dive into Jeremiah’s display of character this week, lets ask the Lord to deepen our character in Him in ways that are pleasing to Him.
• Tuesday: Read Jeremiah 37. Jeremiah completely serves the Lord & also knows Zedekiah could have him killed too. In v18 Jeremiah is accurate & Zedekiah’s prophets were wrong. People give authority to themselves, but servants of the Lord derive authority from God. Today as you study this chapter, ask the Lord to be your strength & sole source of authority as He leads you.
• Wednesday: {Day of Fasting} Read Jeremiah 38, lies told, death threats issued, put in a deadly cistern, but God sends help to Jeremiah. When given the chance, Jeremiah’s character didn’t wane, instead he continued to speak of the Lord & for the Lord. As you study the character of Jeremiah in this chapter, seek the Lord for strength to remain faithful in His sight - when life gets real.
• Thursday: Read Jeremiah 39. Nebuchadnezzar captured Jerusalem as warned of for many years but he knew to show respect to Jeremiah. It’s amazing how those that don’t know the Lord know to respect those that serve the Lord faithfully. At points Jeremiah was both disrespected & respected. God alone knows the plan & he uses everything for His glory. Thank the Lord for where you are disrespected and where you are respected as you determine to glorify Him in all things. “Wherever you are, there you shall be”.
• Friday: Read Jeremiah 39 & Deut 32:51, God can both destroy a city and deliver His people at the same time! Focus on vv15-18, God’s specific word is to save & protect. His prize will be life! Jeremiah doesn’t have a glamorous life, but where the disobedient will be destroyed, God will continue to work through Jeremiah - his story continues, because his trust is in the Lord. Contrast this to Moses’ story, Deut 32:51. Can God tell His story through you? Pray for your trust to continually be in the Lord.
