Structure of biblical lament (with Psalm 13 example):

We approach God in worship and prayer.
How long, Lord?

We identify the source of pain and grief.
How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and day after day have sorrow in my heart?

We petition God.
Look on me and answer, Lord my God.
Give light to my eyes

We reaffirm our trust, praise, and hope in God.
But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing the Lord’s praise,
for he has been good to me.
Considering all we have learned in this series and seen in the world today, take some time to lament (verbally, internally, or in writing).
