What Kind of Church Would Jesus Attend?

• One that

the of God.

• One that the of God.

• One that

the of God.

• One that

around the of God.

Next Week: Church: Who Needs It? Can’t we all just get along? (Biblical Conflict Resolution) Matthew 18:15-20

SMALL GROUP GUIDE

  • Weekly Vision Casting: Jesus would attend a church that radiates God’s glory, reveals God’s truth, rescues God’s enemies, and rallies around God’s love. Those traits should then also describe the people in the church. Each of us likely are better at one of these elements than the others, what is your strong suit? What may be your weakness or blind spot? Lets find ways to partner with one another and strengthen each other in all these areas, using your strength to help others, and using other’s strengths to help build your weaknesses!
  • Opening Prayer
  • Small Group Guidelines (if necessary)
  • Warm Up Question
  • Head, Heart, and Hand Questions
  • Personal Prayer Requests
  • SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

WARM UP: Pretend you are at a job interview: What would you say your greatest strength was in 3 words and greatest weakness in 3 words.

HEAD: These questions help us examine the Word.
    1. Read John 17.
    2. What are some of the things Jesus prayed that stuck out to you?
    3. Why does Jesus care so much about the Father’s glory? Do you care as much about God’s glory as Jesus did? Why or why not?

HEART: These questions help us wrestle with what we believe.
4.As a part of Jesus’ Church, do you prioritize God’s glory and God’s truth in your life?
    5. As a part of His church do you see the need and call to rescue those who are not in the church and bring them in? Do you see the need and call to rally together around the love of God?
    6. Of these four components which do you need the most help to keep in focus? How can we help you do that better?

HAND: These questions help us bring truth and beliefs into our everyday life.
    7. Identify which component you struggle with the most, for that component:

    • What might you need to start or stop doing to better glorify God?

    • What might you need to start or stop doing to better reveal God’s truth?

    • What might you need to start or stop doing to better rescue God’s enemies?

    • What might you need to start or stop doing to better rally around the love of God?
