SIN IN THE LIFE OF A BELIEVER IS NOT A SURPRISE TO GOD.

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. —2 Chronicles 7:14

IF/THEN STATEMENT, CONDITIONAL STATEMENT
- THE CONDITION HINGES ON THE HEART OF GOD’S PEOPLE, THE ONLY QUESTION MARK IN THE STATEMENT IS WHETHER OR NOT THE PEOPLE WILL REPENT. THE PROMISE IS TIED TO AN ACTION.

IF: MY PEOPLE (the action)
- HUMBLE THEMSELVES – Taking a LOW position before God.
- PRAY – Confession of sin through communication with God cleanses the sinner.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. —1 John 1:9
- SEEK MY FACE - Repentance is a direction…it is a constant motion toward Jesus.
- TURN FROM WICKED WAYS – Turning away from sin is only possible when we first SEEK Jesus.

THEN: I WILL (the promise)
- HEAR – God listens to his children when they pray in humble repentance.
- FORGIVE – God promises to forgive our sin.
- HEAL – God doesn’t stop at forgiveness, but moves beyond it to restoration. His work is not done at merely forgiving…He heals that which was damaged, wounded, and broken.

I AM MAKING ALL THINGS NEW. —Revelation 21:5

BENEDICTION/CLOSE

Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. —Hebrews 10:19-23

Those who dwell under his shadow shall return (repent); They shall be revived like grain, And grow like a vine. Their scent shall be like the wine of Lebanon. —Hosea 14:7
