Welcome
The People Gather
L: I call to you. Lord, hear my voice.
All: Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy and grace.
L: If you kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?
All: But with you there is forgiveness, rescue from our sins.
L: I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in God’s word I put my hope.
All: Israel, put your hope in the Lord and in God’s unfailing love.
L: O Lord, lead me in your ways.
All: Lord, hear my voice.
Hymn He Leadeth Me UMH 28, vs 1,2,4
The People Pray *Lord, we come to you this day with so many things going on in our lives. Some of these things are wonderful and cause us to rejoice. However, there are also many things that cause us fear and anxiety. Humbly ask for your presence in our lives. We need your healing touch. Feed us with the bread of life, that we may hunger no more. Strengthen us to do your will, for it is in Jesus’ Name, we pray. AMEN.

The People Confess Their Sin (2 Samuel, Psalm 130, Ephesians 4)
God of compassion, if you kept a record of our sins, who could stand?
We come before you with our brokenness and our wounds for all to see.
We bring our anger, our bitterness, our unwholesome talk, and our deceitfulness.
We try to do good, but sometimes fail.
We choose to do evil, and sometimes succeed.
Keep your promise to forgive us when we confess to you completely.
Without you, we have no hope. Amen.
God’s Words of Assurance
If we confess our sins, God is faithful and will forgive us.
The good news is forgiveness in the name of Christ Jesus.
The Word of God for the People of God
Scripture
Matthew 6:9-13
Pray like this:
Our Father who is in heaven,
uphold the holiness of your name.
10 Bring in your kingdom
so that your will is done on earth as it’s done in heaven.
11 Give us the bread we need for today.
12 Forgive us for the ways we have wronged you,
just as we also forgive those who have wronged us.
13 And don’t lead us into temptation,
but rescue us from the evil one.
James 1:14-15
Everyone is tempted by their own cravings; they are lured away and enticed by them. 15 Once those cravings conceive, they give birth to sin; and when sin grows up, it gives birth to death.
Ephesians 6:11
Be strengthened by the Lord and his powerful strength. Put on God’s armor so that you can make a stand against the tricks of the devil.
