Read: 1 Corinthians 7:1-7

  1. Name some of the single people that are found in the Bible and tell the group what we can learn from them. Why were there so many single people in Bible days and what is the significance of that for the church today?
  2. Tell the group why Paul writes so much about singleness to the church at Corinth in First Corinthians 7. What are some wrong ideas that they had about it? What are some wrong ideas that people have about singleness today and how did Paul correct those in this passage?
  3. List some of the benefits of being single that were mentioned in the sermon. How can someone use their singleness to serve others in the church and be a blessing to them?
  4. What does Paul mean when he says that “each has his own gift form God” in verse 7? What is the gift of singleness and how do you know that you have it? On the flip-side: how is marriage a gift or a blessing from the Lord as well? How do you know that you have been called to be married?
