Stop the Noise – Listen to God’s Voice.

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. —John 10:27 NKJV

We can process or listen 4 times faster than we

speak

If you want the best out of life… stop the noise and

listen to God’s voice.

Jesus said it in response to being tempted by the devil…

4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’” —Matt 4:4 NKJV

Why is it we live by the words of God… because we are part spiritual. Our souls are created by God… and it (Our soul & spirit) knows His voice. It reacts to His voice which established the covenant God made with mankind…

10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. —Heb 8:10 NKJV

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will imprint My laws upon their minds, even upon their innermost thoughts and understanding, and engrave them upon their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. —Hebrews 8:10 Amplified version

Adulting is an informal term to describe behavior that is seen as responsible and grown-up. This behavior often involves meeting the mundane demands of independent and professional living, such as paying bills and running errands.

Following Christ… Listening to His voice is something called “disciple-ing”

Here is the crux of the message… That we would follow Him when we hear His voice

22 Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter. 23 And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon’s porch. 24 Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him, “How long do You keep us in doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.” 25 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me. 26 But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. —John 10:22-27 NKJV

26 You do not

because you are not my sheep…

27 My sheep

my voice, and I know them, and they follow me

27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. 30 I and My Father are one.” —John 10:27-30 NKJV

Jesus, the

visible representation of the invisible God (Father) is sharing the message of a possessive relationship… In which He will be our God and we will be His people… (Same as the covenant spoken in Hebrews before..)

We have so much noise happening around us… look hear, support this, condemn that… The noise is deafening… hard to focus … hard to hear… to listen…

The message is that Christ wants to bring all the sheep into His fold that they would hear Him and follow Him. Which includes me.

Our greatest hope is to hear what Jesus is saying to the church. To us individually. The Shepherd is talking and we need to listen and follow.

And He says plainly, I will be a shepherd to you if you know my voice or follow me.

Clearly this is a benefit to our lives… But there are more benefits to listening to God’s voice…and blocking out the noise…

4 Benefits of Listening to God’s Voice

1. You are where you

be…

Because we follow Christ, We are where we should be… in His will. The places you go, the houses or apartments you live in, the job you have, the ministry you contribute your talents, time and treasure too…

21 Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left. —Isaiah 30:21 NKJV

2. Revelation-ship – Meaning God

information with you both circumstantial and timeless

For, dark and despairing, my sight I may seal
But man cannot cover what God would reveal. Campbell

“This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts. —Zech 4:6 NKJV

24 Then he added, “Pay close attention to what you hear. The closer you listen, the more understanding you will be given—and you will receive even more. 25 To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them.” —Mark 4:24-25 NLT

3. Lifestyle of

If you are in Christ…You are infected with truth… it begins to move through your life and effects everything… it affects your integrity, and your lie detector. Truth begets hope… Truth gives clarity.

The Spirit that leads you encourages you to be truthful.

8 Good and upright is the Lord; Therefore He teaches sinners in the way. 9 The humble He guides in justice, And the humble He teaches His way. 10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth, To such as keep His covenant and His testimonies. 12 Who is the man that fears the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses.
— Ps 25:8-10, 12 NKJV

Make steps to always live in truth… no white lies, no manipulating… work toward truth in all you do.

4. Peace is your

rather than anxiety or depression…

When everything is in upheaval, you find the pocket of peace as your default rather than stress…

3 You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! 4 Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock. —Isa 26:3-4 NLT

Fix your thoughts on God.

When you hear from God it is about having peace in your decision. If you are listening… decipher between a hard decision and knowing at your core it’s the right thing to do.

If there is one thing this world needs right now it is peace.

We need to show the path towards peace. Not be pushed into action but listen for action.

Because “His people or sheep will know His voice and follow Him…”

What is Jesus telling you to do or say… how to show His kind of love. How to share truth… How to be a disciple that follows Christ.
