Expectations Week 4
October 2, 2022

Our expectations of God are too low, expectations of others too high, and we don’t even know what to expect from ourselves. Out of sorts expectations do not produce the life God has for us.

Is it possible to miss God’s will for your life?
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:2)
How do you find out God’s will for your life. (same answer)

Day-by-Day
“As I

_ Jesus one day at a time, He will keep me in the center of God’s will.”

“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for

_ from me you can do nothing.”
(John 15:5)

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”
(Colossians 2:6–7)

Alongside
“When I find out where the

_ is working, then I know that is where I need to be.”
“And this was why the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because he was doing these things on the Sabbath. But Jesus answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I am working.””
(John 5:16–17)

“So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his

accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise.”
(John 5:19)

Stepping-Up
“Stepping

_ in faith does not mean standing back in comfort.”

“By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward. By faith he left Egypt, not being afraid of the anger of the king, for he endured as seeing him who is invisible. By faith he kept the Passover and sprinkled the blood, so that the Destroyer of the firstborn might not touch them.
By faith the people crossed the Red Sea as on dry land, but the Egyptians, when they attempted to do the same, were drowned.”
(Hebrews 11:24–29)

God’s will becomes Your will

“And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.””
(Joshua 24:15)
