Stumbling Brothers

Introduction

20 Don’t tear apart the work of God over what you eat. Remember, all foods are acceptable, but it is wrong to eat something if it makes another person stumble. 21 It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything else if it might cause another believer to stumble. —Romans 14:20-23 (NLT)

23 You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is beneficial. 24 Don’t be concerned for your own good but for the good of others. —1 Corinthians 10:23-24 (NLT)

5 So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law. —Galatians 5:1 (NLT)

We Have Liberty:

1. From The

Of Sin.
2. From The Of Sin.
*3. From The Of Sin.*

My Liberty Is Limited By Two Considerations:

1. It’s

On Walk With God.
*2. It’s On Walk With God.*

12 Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God. 13 So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall.
14 I know and am convinced on the authority of the Lord Jesus that no food, in and of itself, is wrong to eat. But if someone believes it is wrong, then for that person it is wrong. 15 And if another believer is distressed by what you eat, you are not acting in love if you eat it. Don’t let your eating ruin someone for whom Christ died. —Romans 14:12-15 (NLT)

31 So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. —1 Corinthians 10:31 (NLT)

New Wine Helps Us Exemplify Selflessness…

1. In How I My

20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
—Galatians 2:20 (NKJV)

2. In How I

5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. 6 Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. 7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, 8 he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. —Philippians 2:5-8 (NLT)

3. In How I My

13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” —Galatians 5:13-14 (NKJV)

My Next Step

  1. What liberty am I prepared to give up in order to present others from stumbling?
  2. Not volunteering, get plugged into a serving opportunity.(here)
  3. Attend Thursday Lunch Time Bible Study. (here)
