Hope Interrupted - Study Notes

MY STORY
-This week we learned about a baker with whom Joseph crossed paths. What is the most delicious baked good you’ve ever eaten?

-What is a positive thing that came out of one of the worst experiences you ever had?

QUICK REVIEW
-Was there anything from Sunday’s message that caught your attention, challenged you, or confused you?

Read Genesis 40:23
Sunday’s message mentioned hope being interrupted. Joseph was hopeful the cupbearer would put in a good word for him with Pharaoh…but Joseph was forgotten.
-In a season that is so unpredictable, you’ve likely found yourself saying, “I don’t want to get my hopes up” about something. What are some of those things?

DIGGING DEEPER
Read Genesis 39:20-22 and pay attention to Joseph’s level of responsibility.
Pharaoh’s cupbearer and baker were both thrown in prison. These were officials with a lot of responsibility: safeguarding 2 of the ways an assassin could strike—poisoning food or drink. And Joseph was responsible for them while they were in prison!
-Think about WHAT or WHO you are responsible for. How has caring for those responsibilities changed in the past several weeks?

TAKE IT HOME
The message talked about the positive things that can come out of really terrible experiences. What are some of the positives you see coming out of our current situation?
