Do Good and Be Joyful

See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people. Always be joyful. —1 Thessalonians 5:15-16 (NLT)

Do Good

And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. —Acts 10:38 (NLT)

Doing good means, we use

we to make things or to make things around us.

However, I say to you, don’t repay an evil act with another evil act. But whoever insults you by slapping you on the right cheek, turn the other to him as well. If anyone is determined to sue you for your coat, give him the shirt off your back as a gift in return. And should people in authority take advantage of you, do more than what they demand. Learn to generously share what you have with those who as for help, and don’t close your heart to the one who comes to borrow from you. Your ancestors have also been taught ‘Love your neighbors and hate the one who hates you.’ However, I say to you, love your enemy, bless the one who curses you, do something wonderful for the one who hates you, and respond to the very ones who persecute you by praying for them. For that will reveal your identity as children of your heavenly Father. He is kind to all by bringing the sunrise to warm and rainfall to refresh whether a person does what is good or evil. What reward do you deserve if you only love the loveable? Don’t even the tax collectors do that? How are you any different from others if you limit your kindness only to your friends? Don’t even the ungodly do that? Since you are children of a perfect Father in heaven, you are to be perfect like him. —Matthew 5:39-48 (TPT)

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone – especially those in the family of faith. —Galatians 6:9-10 (NLT)

Be Joyful

  • Joy is a filling not a feeling

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. —Romans 15:13 (NIV)

  • Joy and Trust work together

  • Joy is an expression of our thoughts

For as he thinks within himself, so is he. —Proverbs 23:7 (TPT)

Restore to me the joy of your salvation. —Psalm 51:12
