“Good intentions” are not a substitute for being “intentional.”

Intentions ————– Actions

2 Kings 23:25 | NIV84 Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the LORD as he did—with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength.

Is your life defined by your intentional pursuit of God?

You can’t move from inaction to action, without first taking responsibility for your inaction.

2 Kings 23:2-3 | NIV84 He went up to the temple the LORD with the men of Judah, the people of Jerusalem, the priests and the prophets—all the people from the least to the greatest. He read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant, which had been found in the temple of the LORD. The king stood by the pillar and renewed the covenant in the presence of the LORD—to follow the LORD and keep his commands, regulations and decrees with all his heart and all his soul, thus confirming the words of the covenant written in this book.

If you’ve been living in the gap between “good intentions” and action, maybe it’s time to go public with your intentions.

2 Kings 23:3 | NIV84 Then all the people pledged themselves to the covenant.

2 Kings 23:4 | NIV84 The king ordered Hilkiah the high priest, the priests next in rank and the doorkeepers to remove from the temple of the LORD all the articles made for Baal and Asherah and all the starry hosts. He burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron Valley and took the ashes to Bethel.

You can’t live intentionally for God until you deal with the distractions that keep you from God.

idol = anything or anyone that serves as God’s competition

Jeremiah 2:13 | NIV84 “My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.

Don’t give your ultimate love to anything you can ultimately lose.

To “the fear you can’t let go often reveals a false god in your life.

2 Chronicles 35:18 | NIV The Passover had not been observed like this in Israel since the days of the prophet Samuel; and none of the kings of Israel had ever celebrated such a Passover as did Josiah.
