Exalt Jesus

FOCUS on JESUS

Text: Psalm 99, John 12:32

1 The Lord reigns; let the peoples tremble!
He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake!
2 The Lord is great in Zion;
he is exalted over all the peoples.
3 Let them praise your great and awesome name!
Holy is he!
4 The King in his might loves justice.
You have established equity;
you have executed justice
and righteousness in Jacob.
5 Exalt the Lord our God;
worship at his footstool!
Holy is he!

6 Moses and Aaron were among his priests,
Samuel also was among those who called upon his name.
They called to the Lord, and he answered them.
7 In the pillar of the cloud he spoke to them;
they kept his testimonies
and the statute that he gave them.

8 O Lord our God, you answered them;
you were a forgiving God to them,
but an avenger of their wrongdoings.
9 Exalt the Lord our God,
and worship at his holy mountain;
for the Lord our God is holy! —Psalms 99:1-9 (ESV)

What does EXALT mean?
The English word “exalt” comes from the Latin word exaltare, which means “to

up.” In Psalm 99:5, “exalt” translates a Hebrew imperative that means “Lift up!” So the first part of this verse could be translated literally, “Lift up the Lord our God!”

As one songwriter said –

I’ll never be more loved
Than I am right now
Wasn’t holding You up
So, there’s nothing I can do
To let You down
Doesn’t take a trophy
To make You proud
I’ll never be more loved
Than I am right now (oh) —“Jireh” – Elevation Worship/Maverick City Music Writer(s): Chandler David Moore, Steven Furtick, Christopher Joel Brown, Naomi Raine

“Shout for joy, all you upright in heart!” (Ps. 32:11).

“Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!” (34:3).

“Sing aloud to God our strength” (81:1).

“Let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!” (95:2).

“Let the redeemed of the Lord say so” (107:2).

32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” —John 12:32 (ESV)

God is bigger than any problem we face!
Are my problems or my situation bigger than my God?

Satan will use the three D’s in spiritual warfare against us:
• Discouragement
• Distraction
• Discontentment

“So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”” —2 Kings 6:16

God is Bigger Than Any Problem so our FAITH must be bigger than our FEARS

Exalting Jesus is made so much easier when we are doing it with others and be encouraged by them!

HOW WE

JESUS

Read Scriptures pertaining to God’s greatness. - Isaiah 40:12: “Who else has held the oceans in His hand? Who has measured the heavens with His fingers? Who else knows the weight of the earth or has weighed the mountains on the scale?”

Reflect on God’s creation. Hebrews 4:13a says, “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.” Isaiah 40:26 states, “Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.”

Remember His faithfulness in your life, so that you can walk with boldness into your future. Isaiah 46:9-10a says, “Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come.”
“Let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire” (Heb. 12:28–29). (Also see 1 John 1:7–9)

Rejoice and worship the LORD. Worries disappear or at least diminish as praises rise. The atmosphere shifts when worship enters the picture. The burdens you carry can be lifted from your shoulders, as the focus shifts from problems to praise. “Rejoice always,” (JOY AGAIN) Paul instructed the assembly in Thessalonica (1 Thess. 5:16, 27). MAKE THE

TO REJOICE!
