Praying the Word of God

Assignment Last Week:
Read John 15:1-17 and Meditate on it.

4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. —John 15:4 NIV

What does the passage, through the Holy Spirit, tell me about God?

What is God, through the Holy Spirit, teaching me in this passage?

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’. —Matthew 6:9-13 NIV

4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. —John 15:4 NIV

Dear God,
You are the source. The giver of everything I need. I pray that I would remain in you; totally dependent on you and your Word. I understand that I cannot produce any lasting fruit of eternal value, apart from you. Please draw me close and I ask that you would produce much fruit through me, as I remain grafted in you. In Jesus name, Amen.

1Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers. —Psalm 1:1-3 NIV

5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. —John 15:5 NIV

Two questions:
What does the passage tell me about God?
What is God teaching me in this passage?

Write a prayer, this week, using this passage.
