The very night in which Jesus was betrayed He told His disciples to honor Him by remembering the true meaning of Passover and that the elements of the meal were pointing to His fulfillment of the promise of God in Genesis 3:15. The aftermath of the meal was Jesus’ betrayal, His crucifixion until dead, His burial and His resurrection. The Lamb in John 1:19 became the ultimate sacrifice for the sin of the world to demonstrate the love of the Father (Jn. 3:16). The return of the Lamb, however, will be the complete opposite of His first coming. The second coming of the Lamb is not to be judged by the world, but rather to judge the world. The picture of the crucifixion will still be evident, for all those who died for His name sake will be recompensed.
