THE MIRACLE OF GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE MESSINESS OF OUR UNDERSTANDING

Walking in Step With The Spirit

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. —Galatians 5:25

Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. —Galatians 5:25 (NIV)

To walk in the Spirit, I have to sow to the Spirit.

7  Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will
also reap.
8  For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.
9  And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. —Galatians 6:7 - 9

To walk in the Spirit is to walk in His identity.

I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. —John 14:18

14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” —Romans 8:14 - 15

To walk in the Spirit I have to be in line with His Word.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and
training in righteousness. —2 Timothy 3:16

1. To walk in step with the Spirit is to have access to the prophetic Word of God.

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. —John 14:26

8  “Now you shall say to this people, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death.
9  He who remains in this city shall die by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence; but he who goes out and defects to the Chaldeans who besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be as a prize to him. —Jeremiah 21:8 - 9

13  For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.
14  I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.
15  My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16  Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.
17  How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! —Psalms 139:13 - 17

10  But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
11  For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
12  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. —1 Corinthians 2:10 - 12

20  And though the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore, but your eyes shall see your teachers.
21  Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.
22  You will also defile the covering of your images of silver, and the ornament of your molded images of gold. You will throw them away as an unclean thing; you will say to them, “Get away!”
23  Then He will give the rain for your seed with which you sow the ground, and bread of the increase of the earth; it will be fat and plentiful. In that day your cattle will feed in large pastures. —Isaiah 30:20 - 23

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. —John 14:26

2. To walk in step with the Spirit is to walk in truth and peace.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. —John 1:14

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. —John 16:13

God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? —Numbers 23:19

2  Open the gates, that the righteous nation which keeps the truth may enter in.
3  You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You,
4  Trust in the Lord forever, for in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.
5  For He brings down those who dwell on high, the lofty city; He lays it low, He lays it low to the ground, He brings it down to the dust. —Isaiah 26:2 - 5

3. To walk in step with the Spirit is to submit to God’s plan for every moment of your life.

Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. —Matthew 6:10

5  Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
6  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. —Proverbs 3:5 - 6

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. —Galatians 2:20

3  As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven.
4  Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”
5  And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.”
6  So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into
the city, and you will be told what you
must do.” —Acts 9:3 - 6

4. To walk in step with the Spirit is to abide.

1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
2  Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
3  You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
4  Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5  “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. —John 15:1 - 5

28  Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” —Matthew 11:28 - 30
