Couple Of Things To Think About

  • This is a place for “listening” to our hearts … .


Ezra 7:27 (NIV)
Praise be to the Lord, the* God of our ancestors, who has put it into the king’s heart* to bring honor to the house of the Lord in Jerusalem in this way … .


Nehemiah 2:11-12, 7:5 (NIV)
I went to Jerusalem, and after staying there three days I set out during the night with a few others. I had not told anyone what my God had put in my heart to do for Jerusalem.

So my God put it into my heart to assemble the nobles, the officials and the common people for registration by families.


2 Corinthians 8:16 (NIV)
Thanks be to God, who put into the heart of Titus the same concern I have for you.

So Where Do We Go From Here?

  • The gospel of Jesus gives us the security necessary to do an excavation of our hearts.

  • Prayerfully explore how honest we’re being with ourselves and about ourselves.

The Integrity Question

Am I being honest with myself – really?


Psalm 139:23-24 (NIV)
Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

A Few More Questions …

  • Is what our hearts says consistent with what Scripture says we should aspire to?

  • Is what our hearts are telling us consistent with who Jesus is and what He’s all about to the best of our understanding?

  • Does what our hearts say reflect loving God with all our hearts, souls, and minds; and loving our neighbors as ourselves?

So Where Do We Go From Here?

  • Invite others we trust into the decisions we’re facing.
