Week two - It’s Our Turn
Matthew 16:18, Matthew 22:37-40
Last week:
We talked about why the church matters and where it started and why your engagement and involvement with the local church is the best investment you can make for you, for your family, for our community, and ultimately for the world.
The church, this movement, was fueled by the Holy Spirit, driven by faith in Jesus, and ultimately, couldn’t be stopped.
And now, it’s our turn-
Joshua 1:2 - hand off from Moses to Joshua
*Moses is dead. Now then, y’all get ready…
2 Timothy 3 and 4 - hand off from Paul to Timothy
*My time is running out - Be ready, do what you’re supposed to do.
It’s our turn…
…to make time and do for the next generation what someone else did for us.
- To be on
Love God. Love each other. (Matthew 22:37-40)
Christian philanthropy accounted for 70% of philanthropy in America in 2022.
That amounts to about $300 billion.
The Church out-gave the US government in addressing global poverty.
Of the top 50 US charities, 40 are faith-based.
*The church has the strongest argument for the dignity of individuals as image-bearers of God, and for the value of humans. Jesus changed the attitude of how we view and treat one another.
We’re on this mission because it’s the message that has been given and entrusted to us -
- To be on
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. (John 14:6)
Our kids need a “de-constructible version of faith.”
- To be
For God so loved the world that He gave… (John 3:16)
Not everything given to you is for you
We don’t have time, we make time.
We don’t have money leftover. We give and then we save and then we live.
I’m asking you to have a plan to give to your church, to our church.
