Introduction:
A new year brings with it excitement and a desire for newness in our lives - a desire to be better, to do more, and to focus on what matters most. Life is short; therefore, life should be lived wisely with the end in mind. NEXT is about helping you make the most of your life this year.
“… we end our years like a sigh. 10Our lives last seventy years or, if we are strong, eighty years. Even the best of them are struggle and sorrow; indeed, they pass quickly and we fly away.12Teach us to number our days carefully so that we may develop wisdom in our hearts.” —Psalms 90:9b-10;12

NEXT - WEEK #1: “Taking Next Steps in Your Health”
I. COMMIT TO
LIVING
“I say, then, walk by the Spirit and you will certainly not carry out the desire of the flesh. 17For the flesh desires what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you don’t do what you want.” —Galatians 5:16-17
A. Your body is not meant for
“Join in imitating me, brothers and sisters, and pay careful attention to those who live according to the example you have in us. 18For I have often told you, and now say again with tears, that many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19Their end is destruction; their god is their stomach; their glory is in their shame; and they are focused on earthly things.” —Philippians 3:17-19
B. Your body is meant for
“My eager expectation and hope is that I will not be ashamed about anything, but that now as always, with all courage, Christ will be highly honored in my body, whether by life or by death. 21For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” —Philippians 1:20-21

“But have nothing to do with pointless and silly myths. Rather, train yourself in godliness. 8For the training of the body has limited benefit, but godliness is beneficial in every way since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” —I Timothy 4:7-8

LIVING
