Matthew 6:33 “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (NIV)

Today I choose to trust that what God has done in my life is

Genesis 1:31a Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good! (NLT)

Today I choose to trust that God’s to

list is more important than my to list.

Four “first”

as we enter this new year

1 . First of the Day:

God

Psalm 63:1 You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. (NIV)

Mark 1:35 Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. (NKJV)

2 . First of the Week:

with others

Acts 20:7 On the first day of the week, we gathered with the local believers to share in the Lord’s Supper. Paul was preaching to them, and since he was leaving the next day, he kept talking until midnight. (NLT)

Hebrews 10:25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. (NLT)

3 . First of the Month:

generosity

Leviticus 27:30 “‘A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord…’” (NIV)

Galatians 5:13-14 For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (NLT)

4 . First of the Year: Discipline with

and

Matthew 6:17-18 “But when you fast, comb your hair and wash your face. Then no one will notice that you are fasting, except your Father, who knows what you do in private. And your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.” (NLT)

Think about for 2023:

What kind of a year was 2022 for you spiritually?

To put God first, what area of your life most needs to change for 2023?
