WHY THE CONSTANT EMPHASIS ON THE HOLY SPIRIT?

If you don’t know much about the Holy Spirit, you’re certainly not

.

While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul traveled through the interior regions until he reached Ephesus, on the coast, where he found several believers. “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” he asked them. “No,” they replied, “we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”—Acts 19:1-2

The

(Old Testament) word for “Spirit” is ruwach, meaning “a wind, breath, violent exhalation, or blast of breath.”

The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.—Genesis 1:2

The

(New Testament) word for “Spirit” is pneuma, meaning “a current of air, blast of breath, a strong breeze.”

The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. —John 6:63

THE HOLY SPIRIT WANTS TO BLESS YOU WITH A

OF FRESH AIR.

  1. Wind is

    .

I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.—John 14:16-17

  2. Wind is

    .

The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit. —John 3:8

  3. Wind is

    .

You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere – in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. —Acts 1:8

  4. Wind is

    .

That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. —1 Corinthians 2:9-10
