
Showbread
- PRESENCE = Paw-neem or the face or countenance of. The face of the Lord.
- Psalm 16:11 in Your presence is fullness of joy…
- God has revealed that His full joy is discovered/experienced in His Presence.
Then they went into King Hezekiah and said, we have cleansed all the house of the Lord, the altar of burnt offerings will all its articles, and the table of showbread with all its articles. —2 Chronicles 29:18 (NKJV)
- So Hezekiah called the priests and told them to cleanse the House of Lord, back to God’s ways.
- One article necessary was the table of showbread in the Holy Place.
- Showbread = the bread of his face, or the bread of his presence.
Then the Levites went to King Hezekiah and gave him this report: “We have cleansed the entire Temple of the LORD, the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the table of the Bread of the Presence with all its utensils. —2 Chronicles 29:18 (NLT)
- This bread represented God’s provision- Physical = food; Spiritual/eternal = Jesus.
The true bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” “Sir,” they said, “give us that bread every day.” Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. —John 6:33-35
- The Presence of God is manifest in Jesus.
In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. —John 1:1
But Jesus told him, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” —Matthew 4:4
- PRESENCE OF GOD: Temple = table of Showbread (bread of His presence);
- Jesus declared that He is the bread of life (presence of God);
- John 1:1 – Jesus is the Word; we don’t live on bread (physical bread); but every word that comes from God. Jesus is the bread, Jesus is God’s word to us; our bread, our Jesus is God’s Word. Jesus told us to live on this Word.
IF WE WANT THE PRESENCE OF GOD (FACE OF GOD) TO BECOME A REALITY IN OUR LIVES WE MUST BE LIVING ON THE WORD OF GOD.
THE PRESENCE OF GOD REVEALED IN THE WORD OF GOD!
Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault. —Colossians 1:22
- You have been reconciled to God himself through Jesus’ death. Jesus (the bread of life, the presence of God) dying for your sins literally allows you full access to the face of God, the presence of God. Jesus, the bread of life, the Word of God, leads us to His presence
To experience the manifest presence of God, the Word of God has to become our food.
- God’s Word, a must for God’s presence, It must become the words we love and live our life by; we must grow a personal relationship with what the Word of God is saying to us!
My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the LORD, and you will gain knowledge of God. —Proverbs 2:1-5
- Listen = receive
- Treasure = value
- Tune your ear = incline
- Concentrate = apply
- Cry out = passion/desire
- Ask = lift your voice
