DISCUSS
1. In the fifty chapters of the Bible dedicated to the tabernacle, why are so many details and so much precision provided?
2. Is it surprising to think of the tabernacle’s altar and the sacrifices that took place there as reminders of God’s love and mercy? Why might this be?
3. What does it mean that Jesus was willing to be the sacrifice (instead of being forced to be the sacrifice) (John 10.17, 18)?
4. When are you tempted to “grade on a curve” with your sin and compare yourself to others rather than to God’s standards?
5. When you look at the cross, is it easier to see the seriousness of your sin or the mercy of God toward you?
6. When we share the Lord’s Supper (communion) and eat and drink in remembrance of Christ, do you tend to reflect more on the pain of Christ’s sacrifice or its purpose?
PRAY
Lord, thank you for being the ultimate, once-for-all sacrifice for our sin. Thank you for pursuing me, for loving me, for showing mercy and grace to me every day.
