  1. Nelson Bible Dictionary defines PREDESTINATION as the Biblical teaching that declares the sovereignty of God over man in such a way that the freedom of the human will is also

    .

  2. There are 2 major concepts involved here:

    a) God, who is all powerful, has foreknown and predestined the course of human history and the lives of individuals, for if He were not in complete control of human events, He would

be sovereign and, thus, would be God.

    b) God’s predestination of human events

    eliminate human choice.

  3. Calvinists teach that God offers irresistible grace to those whom He

    to save.

  4. The Arminians, on the other hand, insist that God’s grace is the source of redemption, but that it can be

by man through his free choice.

  5. In Calvinism,

chooses the believer; in Arminianism the chooses God.

  6. Nelson’s says the doctrine of predestination

mean that God is unjust, deciding that some people will be saved and that others will be lost.

  7. Jesus was not respected or even liked by the “religious leaders,” but He basically signed His death warrant by proclaiming Himself to be the “

    .”

  8. Jesus said that we cannot put new wine in old skins or, you can’t add

without damaging the container. So, make the container new, and receive new life in the Spirit.

  9. The ordinances of religion should be regulated according to their

, which is the honor of God, and the salvation of men.

  10. The religious people

their actions and attitudes because they knew they were about to lose – not only the financial support, respect, and accolades of their followers – but their entire ministries altogether.

  11. The religious leaders assumed their “covenantal position” made them

    to all others, including Jesus!

  12. Since the religious leaders and covenant people rejected God’s offer, He

    His invitation.

  13. Because the religious leaders of Jesus’ time only had a religion (without a relationship), God created a

    covenant community.

  14. Jesus is saying, although everyone is invited, they are NOT welcome to stay if they refuse to be

and this is only possible through the work of the Holy Spirit.

  15. In this word today, we find 3 kinds of people:
    a) Those that have

the King through their rejection and lack of interest.
    b) Those who but didn’t take it seriously enough to seek genuine change.
    c) Those who accepted the invitation and through the grace of God, in a way that pleased Him.

  16. William Barclay said: “Grace is not only a gift; grace is a grave

. A man cannot go on living the life he lived before he met Jesus Christ. He must be clothed in a new purity, a new holiness and a new goodness.”

Isaiah 61:10 - I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God! For He has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness. I am like a

in his wedding suit or a with her jewels.
