Summary

The sermon “Under New Management” emphasizes the importance of fully surrendering our lives to Jesus. Pastor Randy shares his personal journey of realizing that managing his own life led to brokenness, but placing his life under Christ’s leadership brought restoration and purpose. Using Galatians 2:20, he highlights how true faith means letting go of control and trusting God with every aspect of life. Through relatable stories and reflections, he challenges listeners to evaluate whether they are truly living under God’s direction or still trying to lead themselves. The message is a call to embrace God’s plan, rest in His presence, and trust that He knows exactly what He’s doing.

Surrendering to Jesus Means Letting Go of Control

Just like Pastor Randy realized he was a terrible manager of his own life, we must recognize that true faith requires turning over our will and decisions to God. Galatians 2:20 reminds us that we are no longer in charge—Christ now lives in us.

Resting in God’s Leadership Brings Peace and Strength

Just as a child sleeps better in the arms of a loving parent, we find true rest when we stop resisting God’s direction and trust in His care. When we fight against His will, we only exhaust ourselves.

God Knows What He’s Doing, Even When We Don’t Understand

Our job isn’t to figure everything out but to follow God in faith. Even when circumstances don’t make sense, He is always working in and through our lives for His greater purpose (Proverbs 14:12).

Discussion Questions

Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” What do you think it means to live as if Christ is truly in control? How does this challenge your daily decisions?

Pastor Randy shared how he had to “fire himself” as his own life manager and place his life under God’s leadership. What are some areas of your life where you still struggle to surrender control? What holds you back from fully trusting God?

The sermon mentioned how we often resist the rest God is calling us into, much like a child fighting sleep. Have you ever experienced a season where you resisted God’s direction? What happened when you finally surrendered?

Pastor Randy described Jesus as a friend who walks beside us, not just a distant authority. How does viewing Jesus as both Lord and friend impact the way you approach your relationship with Him?

Reflecting on Proverbs 14:12 (“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death”), how can we discern whether we are truly following God’s lead or just doing what seems right in our own eyes? What practical steps can we take to align our lives with His will?

Practical Application

Start Your Day by Checking in with Your “New Manager”

Before making decisions or jumping into your routine, take time each morning to pray and ask God for guidance. Surrender your plans and ask Him to direct your steps (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Release Control in One Area of Your Life

Identify one area where you’ve been holding on to control (finances, relationships, work, etc.) and intentionally surrender it to God. Write it down, pray about it, and commit to trusting Him with the outcome.

Rest in God’s Presence

If you’ve been resisting God’s call to rest, take a step to slow down this week. Schedule intentional quiet time with Him, practice Sabbath rest, or take a break from distractions to focus on His voice.

Walk in Obedience, Even When It’s Uncomfortable

Say “yes” to something God is nudging you toward, even if it stretches you. Whether it’s reaching out to someone in need, forgiving someone, or stepping into a new role, trust that He knows what He’s doing.
