Living in Babylon

The world we live in has changed, and it often feels like the culture is leaving us behind. But we must remember that God’s kingdom is eternal and unshakable. Regardless of what happens around us, the systems of this world do not dictate what the kingdom of God does. This truth should give us immense comfort and hope. As followers of Christ, we have a mandate to live, function, think, breathe, and behave in a way that reflects our faith. This is completely irrelevant to what’s going on around us. But Jesus reminds us not to store up treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. Instead, we should store up treasures in heaven. Our hope should not be in the systems of this world, but in God’s eternal kingdom. By focusing on heavenly treasures, we can find peace and security that the world cannot offer. Trust in God’s promises and keep your eyes fixed on Him.
