Message Notes:
“The lessons we learn from the places Jesus went!”
Group Guide:
Open your group with prayer.
Take a minute and describe a few of the places where you have lived and what you remember about them.
Lesson Overview:
Jesus spent most of his years of ministry in the region of Galilee. His headquarters was actually considered the village of Capernaum. Jesus would have become very familiar with this area and most likely called it “home.” Jesus taught in the synagogue in Capernaum, spent time with lost people, healed people, and performed miracles in this area. The places that Jesus traveled and lived teach us lessons today about our lives. Let’s take a look at a few of them.
See if you can recall from memory the four phases of Christ’s life.
Read Luke 4:14-16. What was a custom for Jesus, and why should it be a custom for us?
How should people deal with disappointments at church, and how is Jesus an example to us today?
Read Luke 5:27-38. What does this passage tell you about Jesus and the people he spent time with? How do we spend time with lost people without becoming like them spiritually?
Read Luke 4:40-41. Jesus healed many people but he did not heal them all. Why did Jesus heal some and not others?
How are you doing at making time for lost people and making time for hurting people in your life these days? What can you do differently?
Read Luke 9:28-36. Take a minute and explain what happens on the Mount of Transfiguration.
Read Luke 9:30. What might Jesus, Moses, and Elijah have been talking about in this context? Read verse 33. Why would the disciples want to build tents?
Are there any places in your life that helped you spiritually that you wish you could return to?
Share prayer needs with each other and close your group with prayer.
