The Purpose of the Transfiguration

  1. The reason the disciples were told not to tell anyone Jesus was the Messiah was because the BUILDING of the Kingdom was

, and other things were required before its completion.

  2. The reason the disciples were told to not tell anyone Jesus was the Messiah was because He wanted his messiahship to be proven by His

which were “more concrete” evidence than the mere testimony of mankind.

  3. Obviously, Peter exercised “selective hearing” by only hearing the word

, causing him to respond most likely with his “outdoors voice”!

  4. Sadly enough, Peter responded according to his human reasoning, logic, and emotions instead of

    the whole plan of God.

  5. Peter responded the way he did because he had seen the LOVE and COMPASSION of CHRIST for others and determined that there were

why God would send him to die on a cross!

  6. The Bible does not say so, but all of Peter’s companions concluded the same thing as he, because they simply failed to understand God’s

    for the Cross.

  7. The reason it is difficult to understand Jesus’ statement in Matt 16:28 is because He was referring his “

” which was God’s established Kingdom where He (Jesus) would be the mediator for all people.

  8. The purpose of the

was to confirm God’s plan to His disciples, bringing them into unity concerning the purpose of the Cross.

  9. In 3 out of the 4 synoptic gospels we can see that prior to the transfiguration the

was all about God’s plan and the Cross.

  10. At the transfiguration, Jesus’ flesh, which covered His true person, was changed as he was

from the bondages of it, allowing His glory to be seen.

  11. Up to this point, His

had hidden His true identity, even though He had surrendered up His deity before He came to earth in the form of a human being.

  12. I believe the transfiguration was to reveal to all of Jesus’ disciples the glory of God and His inherent power to

, just as He raised Jesus after His death on the Cross.

  13. Moses and Elijah, representatives of the law and prophets, discussed with Jesus how His crucifixion would

the prophesies that had been spoken hundreds of years prior!

  14. Father God was saying, “He is my son, and don’t you dare make Him

to anyone else, including the other 2 men by erecting three tabernacles!

  15. We should desire above all things to be

to our Lord which will even make our enemies to be at peace with us.

  16. Many refuse to discuss the viciousness of the crucifixion of Jesus on the cross, but, although it speaks of “physical death,” it does not refer to the “

    ”.

  17. Truth is….it’s only on the Cross that we begin to truly

    !

  18. The transfiguration was to teach us to HEAR HIS WORDS… for ONLY JESUS has the WORDS to

    !

  19. Paul said that he wanted to experience the fellowship of Christ’s sufferings because

    always follows .
