Sent Together Group Guide
September 17, 2023

Icebreaker:
Think about friendships that you have had in your life. What kinds of things drew you together?

Discussion:
1. Did anything stick out to you from the message, or did you have any questions?
2. Read Mark 3: 13-19:

Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach and to have authority to drive out demons. These are the twelve he appointed: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter), James son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means “sons of thunder”), Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.
3. What were the two reasons Jesus brought these men together?
4. What did the 12 disciples have in common? What were their differences?
5. What are things that may have cemented their relationship with each other?
6. How does serving alongside others build friendships? Can you give examples from your own life?
7. Why does letting people see the real you with your failures and struggles deepen your friendships?
8. How does being secure in your position as a child of Christ make you a better friend?

Pray
Share prayer requests and pray as a group that Jesus will draw you into a closer relationship with Him and with others.
