Why a donkey?
-It was a deliberatly provocative act…
Zechariah 9:9
“Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem!
Look, your king is coming to you.
He is righteous and victorious,
yet he is humble, riding on a donkey - riding on a donkey’s colt.”
2. The Impact
Why a donkey?
-The people’s reaction, though their understanding was incomplete, was to adore and worship Jesus.
“Normally, Jesus refused to be openly acknowledged as the Messiah, but this time he allowed himself to be seen as the promised king.”
Jesus entered Jerusalem that he might enter into our hearts.
3. The Passion
Why a donkey?
-Jesus reveals his Messianic ministry with amazing humility.
“To see, experience, and express the heart of Jesus in all that we do is the utter essence of what it means to know and serve Christ, and it’s the ultimate evidence of what it means for Jesus to have made a triumphal entry into our journeys and stories.”
