Isaiah 32:1-20
32:1-2 | A new king offers the source of hope. He would reign in righteousness, restoring order in the community through faithfulness, loyalty, and moral behavior. This King is none other than the Messiah, Jesus Christ.
32:2 | In contrast to the incompetent leaders during Isaiah’s day, Judah’s future King and his princes would be men of integrity), providing protection for their people as a hiding place from the wind, a cover from the tempest, rivers of water in a dry place, and the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.
32:9 | The women had become complacent and smug. But with danger looming, it was a time to cry and mourn before God, hoping that He would not let disaster overwhelm them.
32:15-17 | The Spirit is poured upon us reveals the transformation that will take place in the world when God’s Spirit is unleashed (Ps. 104:30). The earth will experience increased fertility; justice, righteousness, and worldwide peace will be established. Elsewhere, the pouring out of the Spirit is a mark of the New Covenant (Ezek. 36:26-27; Joel 2:28).
