Treasure in Jars of Clay, 2 Corinthians 4:5-12

  1. Paul’s job was to try and impress others with who he was or even what he did.
  2. Serving Christ means serving not but others voluntarily and without question.
  3. We are jars of clay that carry the of the Gospel in us by faith, yet outwardly we are still made of clay, fragile and even regarded as expendable.
  4. For us as Christians, suffering is a sign of divine disappointment, but an opportunity for divine engagement.

Make two columns. On one side list the times when you were “afflicted… perplexed… persecuted… or even struck down” in various ways. On the other, list how God has worked in your life so that you were “NOT crushed… driven to despair… forsaken… or destroyed.”

How have your sufferings given you the opportunity to display God’s grace toward others, even as they themselves may be hurting?
