Wise Men Still See
God created stars to reflect his glory, including the constellations and the Mazzaroth (zodiac). While astrology points to man and is condemned (Isaiah 47:13-14), God created stars “for signs and seasons” (Genesis 1:14). Astronomy points to God, revealing “God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature…so that men are without excuse.” (Romans 1:20).
Three Signs that Got the Magi’s Attention:
“Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did: ‘Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.’” —Romans 10:17-18
Paul points out that God has already spoken to mankind through the stars.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge…their voice goes out into all the earth.” —Psalm 19:1-4
D. James Kennedy (The Real Meaning of the Zodiac) shows how the constellations of the zodiac point to the Lord.
- Virgo (Virgin) = Christ the Incarnate Son (Isaiah 7:14)
- Libra (Scales) = Christ the Redeemer (Daniel 5:27)
- Scorpio (Scorpion) = Christ the Sufferer (Genesis 3:15)
- Sagittarius (Archer) = Christ the Conqueror (Genesis 3:15)
- Capricorn (Goat) = Christ the Sacrifice (Leviticus 9:3)
- Aquarius (Water Pourer) = Christ the Living Water (John 7:37)
- Pisces (Fish) = Christ the Liberator (Mark 1:17)
- Aries (Lamb) = Christ the Lamb of God (John 1:29)
- Taurus (Bull) = Christ the Judge (Revelation 19:11)
- Gemini (Twins) = Christ the God-Man (John 1:14)
- Cancer (Crab) = Christ the Risen Lord (II Corinthians 4:16)
- Leo (Lion) = Christ the Victor (Revelation 5:5)
God names the stars (Isaiah 40:26) and determines their number (Psalm 147:4). God ordained both stars and people to point to him (Daniel 12:3).
“He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them.” —Daniel 2:21
“To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning.” —Daniel 1:17
Daniel and his fellow Jews observed seven feasts annually which foreshadowed Christ: Passover (his crucifixion); Unleavened Bread (his burial); Firstfruits (his resurrection); Pentecost (his Spirit); Trumpets (his Rapture); Atonement (his return); Tabernacles (his Millennial Kingdom).
History is His story!
“There is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries…the revealer of mysteries showed what is going to happen.” —Daniel 2:28
“In the first year of Darius…I Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years. So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition.” —Daniel 9:1-3
Daniel both revealed prophecy and made prophecies (over 100 in Daniel 11 alone).
356 prophecies were made about Jesus from Genesis 3:15 to Malachi 4:6. Precise details about his family, his birth, his life, his ministry, his betrayal, his death, his resurrection, his ascension, and his return were given hundreds of years before they happened.
Some prophecies were familiar to the Magi (Numbers 24:17; Daniel 9:25) while others weren’t (Micah 5:2). Still they knew enough to follow a star and find Jesus. “God rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6.
The evidence for Jesus is sufficient to find him (Romans 1:19). Keep your eyes open and make a conscious choice to see Jesus! You can only miss him if you want to miss him. Today stars, seasons, and Scriptures still point to Jesus. Six million Jews regathered in Israel cry out to us that God is real and the Bible is true! (Ezekiel 37:21) Do you choose to see Him today?
