03/10/2024: A PRAYER FOR SPIRITUAL RENEWAL - Psalm 51:10
March 10, 2024

A YEAR OF PRAYER

1  Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.
2  Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3  For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.
4  Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight— that You may be found just when You speak, and blameless when You judge.
5  Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me.
6  Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me hear joy and gladness, that the bones You have broken may rejoice.
9 Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. —Psalms 51:1 - 9

A PRAYER FOR SPIRITUAL RENEWAL

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. —Psalm 51:10

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and
renew a right, persevering, and
steadfast spirit within me. —Psalm 51:10 (AMPC)

  • RENEW DEFINED: To revive or rediscover a former state, to give fresh life; to begin again; strength to revive; to replace something that is broken or worn out; to refresh; to restore.

  • STEADFAST DEFINED: Resolutely or dutifully firm and unwavering.

1. The prayer for a “right” spirit of a renewed first love.

2  “I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars;
3 and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary.
4 Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. —Revelation 2:2 - 4

1  Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2  But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.
3  He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. —Psalms 1:1 - 3

Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You. —Psalm 119:11

1  I will love You, O Lord, my strength.
2  The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
3  I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies. —Psalms 18:1 - 4

One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple. —Psalm 27:4

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. —Hebrews 10:25

2. The prayer for a renewed steadfast spirit.

1 Therefore, having been justified by faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord
Jesus Christ,
2  through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. —Romans 5:1 - 2

28  For You will light my lamp; the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.
29  For by You I can run against a troop, by my God I can leap over a wall.
30  As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.
31  For who is God, except the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God?
32  It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect.
33  He makes my feet like the feet of deer, and sets me on my high places.
34  He teaches my hands to make war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
35  You have also given me the shield of Your salvation; Your right hand has held me up, Your gentleness has made me great.
36  You enlarged my path under me, so my feet did not slip. —Psalms 18:28 - 36

3. The prayer for a persevering spirit.

13 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
14  Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord! —Psalms 27:13 - 14

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. —Isaiah 26:3

Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; —Philippians 1:6

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. —Hebrews 10:23
