Now Moses was pasturing the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.
Then the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, yet the bush was not being consumed.
So Moses said, “I must turn aside and see this marvelous sight, why the bush is not burning up!” When the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!”
And he said, “Here I am.” Then He said, “Do not come near here; remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.”
And He said, “I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Then Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God. —Exodus 3:1-6
I MUST TURN ASIDE
“Sow a habit reap a destiny”
Then the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the midst of a bush (thorn bush); and he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, yet the bush (common low-lying thorn bush) was not being consumed. So Moses said, “I must turn aside and see this marvelous sight, why the bush is not burning up!” When the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” —Exodus 3:2-4
I must turn aside: (Asura-na) To leave a pathway or position.
Part of Spiritual Maturity is the capacity to see the burning bush in our own lives and having enough sense to TURN ASIDE, TAKE OFF OUR SHOES and PAY ATTENTION!
“Do you glimpse the divine woven into the fabric of the familiar, or has His presence become hidden in plain sight?”
“We often miss God’s voice because we’re so focused on distant dreams that we overlook His presence in the here and now.”
When the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!”
And he said, “Here I am.” Then He said, “Do not come near here; remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” —Exodus 1:4-5
Is God speaking to you? Is He calling you? What is your response?
When Burning Bushes turn to Burning Hearts
Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight.
And they said to one another, “Did not our hearts burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?” —Luke 24:30-32
Jeremiah
His word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot. —Jeremiah 20:9
