PREPARE
Oh to see God’s ways, His salvation, and His praises spread throughout all the earth. What a glorious thing that would be!
The psalmist opens with words that ring familiar to the Aaronic blessing;
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. —Numbers 6:24-26
Continuing with a call for global praise;
Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you! —Psalm 67:3
One doesn’t have to go far to encounter all the peoples praising and worshiping something else instead of God. Even us, at times, will attend church seeking other things instead of the worship of Jesus. Let us meditate on the words of this psalm, praying for our hearts to be in tune with this song of praise even while we wait on the world to join in. May our lives be given to helping others see God’s worth and give to God alone all glory, honor and praise!
Prepare for this week’s teaching by reading Psalm 67 with the questions below:
1. How have you been blessed by God? How is God currently blessing you? What is one way you can give God praise for his blessings this week?
2. Why does God choose to bless one person or group for the sake of other people, or, what is the logic of election? What is one way you can use your blessings to be a blessing to other people?
3. In what ways may you be taking credit for a blessing God has given you? How instead can you give him praise?
4. How actively are you involved in bringing God’s praise to all nations? How might our praise lead others to see God and praise him?
