“Before the Passover celebration, Jesus knew that his hour had come to leave this world and return to his Father. He had loved his disciples during his ministry on earth, and now he loved them to the very end.” —John 13:1
“’Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.’” —John 14:1
“6 Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. 7 If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!’” —John 14:6-7
“15 “If you love me, obey my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate who will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.” —John 14:15-17
“‘7 But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.’” —John 16:7
Jesus promised us a Spirit filled life.
“While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul traveled through the interior regions until he reached Ephesus, on the coast, where he found several believers. 2 ‘Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?’ he asked them. ‘No,’ they replied, ‘we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.’” —Acts 19:1-2
“51 ‘You stubborn people! You are heathen[l] at heart and deaf to the truth. Must you forever resist the Holy Spirit? That’s what your ancestors did, and so do you!’” —Acts 7:51
The Holy Spirit will convict you.
“8 And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.” —John 16:8
The Holy Spirit will counsel you.
“13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.” —John 16:13
The Holy Spirit will comfort you.
“26 ‘But I will send you the Comforter - the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me.’” —John 15:26
