Compassion is Love in
God has called us to be vessels of His compassion.
Colossians 3:12a (NIV):
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion.”
1. Compassion Identifies the
Romans 5:10b (NIV):
“We were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son.”
Matthew 9:36 (NIV):
“When Jesus saw the crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”
2. Compassion
Luke 2:6-7 (NIV):
“She gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.”
Philippians 2:3-5 (NIV):
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves… Have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.”
Compassion is about reflecting Christ’s love.
3. Compassion Goes the
Matthew 1:23 (NIV):
and they will call him Immanuel”[a] (which means “God with us”).
2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV):
God made him who had no sin to be sin[a] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Since Jesus went the extra mile for us, we must go the extra mile for others. Compassion compels us to love sacrificially.
Compassion sees people the way that Jesus saw you!
