Ecclesiastes 11:4 “If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done.”
Reset Your Past
Reset means to begin again and in a new way.
Your past is the choices and decisions you made up until this moment in your life.
a) Your Past Can Be Overwhelming
Psalm 38:4-6 “My guilt overwhelms me - it is a burden too heavy to bear. 5My wounds fester and stink because of my foolish sins. I am bent over and racked with pain. All day long I walk around filled with grief.”
Psalm 51:2-3 “Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. I acknowledge my transgressions and my sin is always before me.”
b) Your Past Is Forgivable
Jeremiah 31:34c “I will forgive their wickedness and I will never again remember their sins.”
1 John 1:7 “If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”
1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
c) Your Past Does Not Define You
saiah 43:18 “The Lord says, ‘Do not cling to events of the past or dwell on what happened long ago.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 “Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten and everything is new.”
Colossians 1:21-22 “You used to be far from God. Your thoughts made you His enemies, and you did evil things. But His Son became a human and died. So God made peace with you, and now He lets you stand in His presence as people who are holy and faultless and innocent.”
d) Your Future Can Be Different
Proverbs 24:16 “Even if good people fall seven times, they will get back up.”
Philippians 3:12-14 “I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved or that I have already reached perfection! But, I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ Jesus saved me for and wants me to be. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.”
The big idea: It’s time for a reset!
