COMPLETED 4/6 NEHEMIAH-PART 7 FITTING IN
PART 7
FITTING IN
April 6, 2025
The book takes a transition from dealing with things like rocks and stones and walls and gates to people.
Giftedness:
1. Prophetic in nature: You love ideas, concepts, doctrine, Scripture, writing, speaking and teaching. You are not afraid of conflict and controversy.
2. Priestly in nature: You love people. You tend to be merciful, patient, and compassionate.
3. Kingly in nature: You love systems, policies, procedures, technologies, real estate, efficiency, and organization.
Nehemiah 7:1 - After the wall had been rebuilt and I had set the doors in place, the gatekeepers and the singers and the Levites were appointed.
A great leader is someone who FEARS God.
1. Leaders to OPERATE the Church:
A. GATE keepers: Community group leaders, ushers, greeters and registration booth workers.
B. SINGERS: Band members, audio visual, media, and internet.
C. LEVITES: Caring for people.
D. EXECUTIVE team: Leader of leaders.
Nehemiah 7:2 - I put in charge of Jerusalem my brother Hanani, along with Hananiah the commander of the citadel, because he was a man of integrity and feared God more than most men do.
2. Policies to RUN the Church.
Nehemiah 7:3-5 - I said to them, “The gates of Jerusalem are not to be opened until the sun is hot. While the gatekeepers are still on duty, have them shut the doors and bar them. Also appoint residents of Jerusalem as guards, some at their posts and some near their own houses.” 4 Now the city was large and spacious, but there were few people in it, and the houses had not yet been rebuilt. 5 So my God put it into my heart to assemble the nobles, the officials and the common people for registration by families. I found the genealogical record of those who had been the first to return. This is what I found written there:
Psalms 37:4 - Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
His desire is to build a whole city that honors God, to plant a church as a city within that city in which the Bible would be preached and God would be loved and lives would be changed. That’s the desire that God gave him.
Nehemiah 7:5-7 - I found the genealogical record of those who had been the first to return. 6 These are the people of the province who came up from the captivity of the exiles whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had taken captive (they returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his own town, 7 in company with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum and Baanah):
Nehemiah 8:1 - When the seventh month came and the Israelites had settled in their towns, all the people assembled as one man in the square before the Water Gate.
3. MONEY to operate the Church.
Nehemiah 7:70-72 - Some of the heads of the families contributed to the work. The governor gave to the treasury 1,000 drachmas of gold, 50 bowls and 530 garments for priests. 71 Some of the heads of the families gave to the treasury for the work 20,000 drachmas of gold and 2,200 minas of silver. 72 The total given by the rest of the people was 20,000 drachmas of gold, 2,000 minas of silver and 67 garments for priests.
4. Our goal for 2025.
A. Missions Team: Our new Church in Concord, help a Church in another country.
B. Family Enrichment Team: Marriage & family seminars, Divorce Care.
C. Spiritual Growth Team: Community Group Leaders, one on one discipleship for new people who have accepted Christ.
D. Care Team: Hospital visits, food for funerals.
These are just some ideas.
