1 Corinthians 12:1-11
In the midst of spiritual

On average, when do you decorate your home for Christmas?
Have you ever attended a symphony orchestra performance? Which ones? What were they like?
After reading 1 Corinthians 12:1-11, make a list of some of the mute or speechless idols in our culture?
Do you think our culture emphasizes or de-emphasizes the spiritual? Explain your answer with examples.
What kind of problems can “misunderstanding spiritual things” cause in the church? (verse 1)
Read about the different gifts of the Spirit in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10; Romans 12:6–8; Ephesians 4:7–11 and 1 Peter 4:7–11. Which gifts overlap? Which gifts are distinct to a particular list?
An orchestra has a variety of different sections (strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion). Of all the spiritual gifts, services, and activities, try to group them into sections. How do they work together or complement one another?
Why is it important to understand that the same God is empowering each gift, service and activity? What is the goal of the Spirit’s empowering work through His church? (verse 7)
- What are some ways you have seen spiritual gifts manifested and used in your church experience or Life Group (both past and present)?
