All Scripture references are from the ESV

For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. —John 1:17 ESV

For by him (Jesus) all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. —Colossians 1:16-17

And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?”

10 And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.” 11 He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” 12 The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.”

13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” 14 The Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life.” —Genesis 3:8-14

We are responsible for our own sin.

So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. —Genesis 3:6

The enemy becomes your accuser.

We try to justify our sin.

The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.” 13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” —Genesis 3:12-13

The Lord disciplines the ones he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives. —Hebrews 12:6

Discipline | paideuō
to train children or to be instructed or taught or learn

Loves | agapao
as used of God, it expresses the deep and constant “love” and interest of a perfect Being towards entirely unworthy objects

Chastises | mastigoo
to scourge literally or figuratively

Receives | paradechomai
to take upon oneself, one that the Lord calls His own

“I will put enmity between you (the devil/serpent) and the woman, and between your offspring (evil/the enemy) and her offspring (Jesus); he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” —Genesis 3:15

Grace is undeserved favor.

Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he (Christ) himself likewise partook of the same things (flesh and blood), that through death (the cross) he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. —Hebrews 2:14-15

He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of His own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time. —2 Timothy 1:9
