Acts 15 – Keep the main thing the main thing

Salvation comes by

through in Jesus.

Acts 15:1 While Paul and Barnabas were at Antioch of Syria, some men from Judea arrived and began to teach the believers: “Unless you are circumcised as required by the law of Moses, you cannot be saved.” (NLT)

Acts 15:11 “We believe that we are all saved the same way, by the undeserved grace of the Lord Jesus.” (NLT)

“How am I saved?”

It is not Jesus +

1. Salvation is by

alone (sola gratia).

Ephesians 2:8-10 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (NLT)

2. Salvation is by

alone (sola fide).

Galatians 3:11 So it is clear that no one can be made right with God by trying to keep the law. For the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.” (NLT)

3. Salvation is by

alone.

1 Timothy 2:5-6 For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time. (NLT)

If salvation comes by Grace through Faith in Jesus what

now?

Acts 15:28-29 “For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay no greater burden on you than these few requirements: You must abstain from eating food offered to idols, from consuming blood or the meat of strangled animals, and from sexual immorality. If you do this, you will do well. Farewell.” (NLT)
