Bible Engagement: Week 18, Divided Kingdom/Isaiah
Tier 1: Isaiah 7-9 Born of a virgin. Unto us a child is born.
Tier 2: Isaiah 7-9
Tier 3: Isaiah 7-9
Tier 1 Questions
Note that chapter 7 refers to events that we learned about last week in 2 Kings 16, known as the Syrian-Ephraimite War. Today, we will begin to see prophecies that were fulfilled by Jesus hundreds of years later.
- In Isaiah 7:14, we see the first prophecy of Jesus. How is this savior described?
• See how it is fulfilled in Matthew 1:23. What extra information does Matthew add?
- What is the message of Isaiah chapter 9? See how Luke 2:11 fulfills Isaiah 9:6-7.
Tiers 2-3 Questions

Application
- Think about Jesus as “God with us.” What does it mean to you that God is not disconnected from you but He wants to be near?
• Do you feel like God is distant today? Take some time to move towards God like Elijah and remember that He is close by even when you cannot see or feel Him. Remember God’s nature, His goodness and care for you when your senses are saying something different.
