Week One: From Bad to Worse

Who is the person that shared the message of Jesus with you?

The Israelites found themselves in a very challenging situation. A famine was in the land, and they would starve to death if something didn’t happen. God intervened and brought them to a place of safety in Egypt. Over time Egypt became a place of bondage for them. They literally went from bad circumstances to even worse circumstances.

By looking at the story of Israel, we can see biblical principles of how God gets us through the difficult times of life. Share a story of someone you’ve seen going through adversity and how they responded. (good or bad)

Read Genesis 47:13 and Exodus 1:13,14 and describe how Israel must have felt at this point in their history.

Read Genesis 50:20. How did God turn a bad situation into a good one? Has that ever happened to you?

How did the difficulties of life make or break the Israelites? How do they make or break us?

Read Genesis 50:24. What did Joseph remind his people of while they were in the land of Egypt?

Are you in a place today where things seems to be only going from bad to worse? Explain.

What truth from this lesson do you need to learn today?
