05/03-05/04: THE HELMET OF SALVATION

THE ARMOR BLACKSMITH SHOP: THE FULL ARMOR OF GOD

10  Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
11  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13  Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14  Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15  and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16  above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
17  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; —Ephesians 6:10 - 17

THE HELMET OF SALVATION:

Justification
Sanctification
Glorification

JUSTIFICATION

A new life of freedom and forgiveness by grace, through faith

SANCTIFICATION

The daily process of growing and learning to be like Jesus

GLORIFICATION

“Our blessed hope” – Eternity with Jesus. All things made new in Heaven!

3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4  to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
5  who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6  In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,
7  that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
8  whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
9  receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls. —1 Peter 1:3 - 9

And take the helmet of salvation… —Ephesians 6:17a

…And salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. —Ephesians 6:17a (MSG)

Embrace the power of salvation’s full deliverance, like a helmet to protect your thoughts from lies… —Ephesians 6:17a (TPT)

Put on salvation as your helmet… —Epehsians 6:17a (NLT)

1. The helmet of salvation brings justification. A crown of which the worth cannot be comprehended. Freely and joyfully given, “forever justified.”

1  Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.
2  Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory. —Romans 5:1 - 2

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. —Ephesians 2:4 - 9

4  But God—so rich is He in His mercy! Because of and in order to satisfy the great and wonderful and intense love with which He loved us,
5  Even when we were dead (slain) by [our own] shortcomings and trespasses, He made us alive together in fellowship and in union with Christ; [He gave us the very life of Christ Himself, the same new life with which He quickened Him, for] it is by grace (His favor and mercy which you did not deserve) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation).
6  And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together [giving us joint seating with Him] in the heavenly sphere [by virtue of our being] in Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One).
7  He did this that He might clearly demonstrate through the ages to come the immeasurable (limitless, surpassing) riches of His free grace (His unmerited favor) in [His] kindness and goodness of heart toward us in Christ Jesus.
8  For it is by free grace (God’s unmerited favor) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God;
9  Not because of works [not the fulfillment of the Law’s demands], lest any man should boast. [It is not the result of what anyone can possibly do, so no one can pride himself in it or take glory to himself.] —Ephesians 2:4 - 9 (AMPC)

11  And this is that testimony (that evidence): God gave us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
12  He who possesses the Son has that life; he who does not possess the Son of God does not have that life.
13  I write this to you who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) the name of the Son of God [in the peculiar services and blessings conferred by Him on men], so that you may know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that you [already] have life, yes, eternal life. —John 5:11 - 13(AMPC)

16 yet we know that a person is not justified[by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.
17 But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we too were found to be sinners, is Christ then a servant of sin? Certainly not!
18 For if I rebuild what I tore down, I prove myself to be a transgressor.
19 For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God.
20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
21 I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose. —Galatians 2:16 - 21 (ESV)

11  Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.”
12  But the law is not of faith, rather “The one who does them shall live by them.” —Galatians 3:11 - 12 (ESV)

6  For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7  For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.
8  But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9  Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. —Romans 5:6 - 9

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. —2 Corinthians 5:21

6  In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, of your souls.
