P.I.T. Seed
Principle of Seed
Genesis 8:20-22 New King James Version
Power in the Seed (P.I.T.)
1) The Principle
2) The Purpose
3) The Promise
The Principle
Principle: A fundamental truth, law or proposition that serves as the foundation for a system of belief or behavior or for a chain of reasoning. In a general sense, the cause, source or origin of any thing; that from which a thing proceeds;
Seed is the means of propagating life from one generation to another. Biblically and naturally, the term illustrates principles of life and growth.
God begins a new cycle of creation and a new covenant.
The sequence is as follows:
1) God responds to Noah’s offering by promising never again to destroy the earth or interfere with its natural cycles (8:20-22);
2) God blesses Noah and outlines certain foundational principles for human life in this world (9:1-7);
3) God repeats his covenant promises and adds the rainbow as a sign of his covenant with Noah and the human race (9:8-17); a brief genealogical note follows regarding the family of the heroic Noah (9:18-19).
This principle exists within every and all kinds/types of seeds.
Seeds of herbs
Seeds of fruit
Man is seed
Seed of man (children)
Seed of the giving
Seed of the mouth (words)
Seed of time
God’s word as Seed
The Purpose
2 Corinthians 9:10 New King James Version
What’s contained within the Seed?
The Seed is a form of reproduction (be fruitful & multiply).
A small structure that contains everything needed to give rise to the structure of the kind of seed it is (if apple seed, an apple plant that becomes a tree).
Within it lies the embryo, as well as the nutrients necessary for its initial growth.
When a Seed falls (sown) in a suitable place (soil) it germinates and begins to develop, sending roots into the soil (got to be rooted) and sprouts upward to become full-grown plant.
Seeds are vital for the survival and growth of plants (planted) as they allow for the dispersal and propagation (the command) of species in different environments.
The Promise
Mark 4:26-29 NKJV
26 And He said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground, 27 and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how. 28 For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head. 29 But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”
Kingdom Seed
Man as Agent
A man should scatter seed on the ground
Sleep by night and rise by day
The seed should sprout and grow,
He himself does not know how.
God as Agent
For the earth yields crops by itself:
first the blade, then the head, and after that, the full grain in the head.
Miracle of the Harvest
He immediately puts in the sickle when the grain ripens because the harvest has come.”
John 12:24 New King James Version
Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.
Once you get to harvest, that which was seed is no more, but the harvest carries within it the seeds of the greater harvest yet to come.
