Freedom Series - Week 5

Big Idea: Faith in Christ Overcomes Worldly Divisions

  • Galatians 3:26-29, “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

  • The Gospel of Jesus is a gift of grace
  • Abraham is the chief example of faith in the Hebrew Scriptures
  • Galatians 3:6 So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”
  • God always intended to bring the nations into the family of faith

  • Galatians 3:7-9, “Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham. 8 Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.” 9 So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.”

  • We are set free when place our faith in Jesus’ saving work

  • Jesus makes is possible people from all nations to find freedom from sin
  • The church is built on the foundation of faith in Jesus not any particular culture
  • Galatians 3:26 “in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith”

  • Galatians 3:27 “For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ”
  • Getting Dressed Liturgy “Lord, cover my heart and mind with your grace. Surround me with your presence.”
  • Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus
  • Can people see that we have put on Christ?
  • The Gospel calls us to unity in Christ. But there is a difference between unity and uniformity.

Reflect and Respond:

  • Are you part of the family?

  • Are you putting on Christ?

  • Are you making room in the family of faith?

25 The LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;
26 The LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.
