Reflecting on the Savior’s Ministry!

John 12:44-50

“44 And Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me. 45 And whoever sees Me sees Him who sent Me. 46 I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in Me may not remain in darkness. 47 If anyone hears My words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. 48 The one who rejects Me and does not receive My words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day. 49 For I have not spoken on My own authority, but the Father who sent Me has Himself given Me a commandment—what to say and what to speak. 50 And I know that His commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has told Me.” (John 12:44-50, ESV)

Jesus and the Father are one!

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me” (John 14:1)

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. 7 If you had known Me, you would have known my Father also…” (John 14:6-7)

“8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know Me Philip? Whoever has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me?” (John 14:8-10)

“46 I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in Me may not remain in darkness”

“4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:4-5)

“The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world” (John 1:9)

“Scripture introduces Jesus as light, as the answer to darkness and blindness. Light is the idea of abiding or remaining, and as a means to avoid stumbling or falling away.” (Gerald L. Borchert, The New American Commentary: John 12).

“46 I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in Me may not remain in darkness”

Jesus is worth all the effort we could put into making Him known!

v50 “And I know that His commandment is eternal life….”

“24 If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me. 25 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? (Matthew 16:24-26, ESV)
